Why are my links on the default domain not working?

If a short link on the link.revroute.ru domain doesn’t open, the cause is most often a protective system on the visitor’s side: the browser, antivirus software, or the network the visit is made from. Below are the possible scenarios and what to do about them.

Possible causes

Shared domains of public link shorteners occasionally end up on block lists maintained by browsers, antivirus software, and Internet Service Providers (ISPs). This comes down to the nature of short links: malicious actors can hide phishing sites behind them, and protective systems sometimes err on the side of caution and restrict an entire domain. As a side effect, a perfectly legitimate link can get blocked too. Typical scenarios for any link shortener:

  • Blocked by the browser. Google Chrome may show a “Your connection is not private” warning, while Microsoft Edge with the Defender SmartScreen filter may show “This site has been reported as unsafe”.
  • Blocked by antivirus software. Antivirus software may intercept the visit and show its own warning about a suspicious site — before the page even starts loading.
  • Blocked at the network or ISP level. A corporate firewall or an ISP may drop the connection. In that case, the browser shows an error like “This site can’t provide a secure connection” (ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR), or the page simply never loads.

What you can do

  1. Check where the link leads. Append a + to the end of the short link — link.revroute.ru/<key>+ — and the link inspector page will open. This lets you see the destination URL without actually following the link.
  2. Try another browser or another network. If the link opens in a different browser or over mobile data, the issue lies with the settings of a specific browser, antivirus, or network — for example, a corporate firewall.
  3. If you created the link, consider adding a custom domain. Links on your own domain don’t depend on the reputation of the shared short domain and look more recognizable. See our guide on choosing the right domain.

How to report it

If the link still doesn’t open, or you believe it was blocked by mistake, email us at support@revroute.ru. Include the short link itself, the error text, and a screenshot if possible — that helps us investigate faster.

You can also write to the same address if, on the contrary, you’ve come across a short link on our domain that leads to a suspicious site.
